This is an excellent opportunity for an executive management professional to join our dedicated and dynamic leadership team.

We are seeking an experienced Executive Manager to support our Deputy Secretary in delivering our Group’s strategic and operational objectives and initiatives whilst providing positive leadership and mentoring to their team.

About the role

The Executive Manager provides high-level executive support and strategic advice to the Deputy Secretary, with a focus on enabling effective delivery of priority climate and energy transition actions across NSW.

They are responsible for leading initiatives on behalf of the Deputy Secretary which are often specialised, confidential and complex in nature. They’re also responsible for proactively managing a diverse range of critical issues, services, projects and reporting. 

About you

You are a highly organised strategic thinker with a keen eye for detail. You bring a collaborative, proactive approach to issue identification and management. You are committed to and engage in positive leadership and mentoring and live the cultural values of the organisation.

To be successful in the role, you will:

  • Develop and maintain effective and strategic relationships with the Deputy Secretary; and senior executives, partner agencies, Ministers’ Offices, and other Executive Offices within the Department as the Deputy Secretary’s representative.
  • Communicate effectively with a range of critical internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Effectively identify contentious issues and risks to help the Deputy Secretary collaborate and respond having identified well-considered solutions.
  • Have proven experience in senior stakeholder engagement, planning and project management.
  • Successfully and positively lead and manage a small team in a high-volume, complex and fast-paced environment.

Key knowledge and experience

  • Knowledge, skills and experience at a senior level in Government protocols and procedures, including Cabinet and inter-government protocols and processes
  • Experience working in a senior executive support function and proven ability to exercise sound judgement, particularly in matters of great political sensitivity, strict confidentiality and/or potential controversy.
