The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity work as part of the Beach-nesting Birds team.  The role will assist with delivery of multiple facets of the program including engaging with and supporting a range of stakeholders, training and mentoring volunteers and land managers, education and awareness-raising events and activities, data collection, managing contracts and budgets, and assistance with research elements of the program.

To be successful in this role, you will need tertiary qualifications in Conservation Biology, Environmental Science or a related field, demonstrated experience undertaking environmental field work, and experience working with and managing volunteers.  A current driver’s licence is essential.  Proficiency with mapping tools and relevant technical programs (e.g., ArcGIS or statistical analysis packages) is a desirable criteria, as is a basic understanding of statistics and experimental design.  Good physical fitness and mobility will be important for this role.

What you need to know 

This is a part-time (0.8 FTE) role offered on a fixed-term contract until 31 August 2025 (in line with contractual obligations). It is expected that the successful applicant will be working from home, ideally in the South West of Western Australia (between Bunbury and Denmark).  Alternative locations will be considered based on strategic merit and travel budget availability.

Applicants must possess corresponding work rights to be eligible for appointment and a current national police check (NPC) (or willingness to obtain).
