About the role

As Manager Major Projects, you will oversee the coordination and management of advice prepared by Biodiversity Conservation and Science Group (BSC) on major renewable energy projects across NSW. You will play an important role in supporting timely reviews of biodiversity assessments while promoting biodiversity conservation and supporting organisational and government objectives. You will work closely with BCS regional planning teams at all project stages, supporting and coordinating advice prepared for renewable energy projects. Three new ongoing manager roles are available:

  • Manager Major Projects - Wind Farms
  • Manager Major Projects - Solar Farms and Batteries
  • Manager Major Projects - Transmission Lines and Pumped Hydro

About you:

You will be an expert in leading and facilitating engagement - this role will require you to build constructive relationships as a central contact on renewable energy major projects for regional BCS planning teams, BCS policy teams, major project proponents, consultants, accredited assessors (under the Biodiversity Offset Scheme), government agencies including the Department of Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure, and other key partners. Ideally, you will be an expert in the assessment of major project biodiversity assessments, with experience in the preparation, management or review of major project assessments, able to provide biodiversity assessment advice and solutions on all project stages and emerging issues.

Knowledge and experience:

  • Thorough understanding of the NSW major project assessment process used by the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.
  • Comprehensive and up-to-date understanding of the biodiversity assessment requirements of the Biodiversity Offset Scheme and Biodiversity Assessment Method under the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016, particularly for major projects.

Applicants are not required to be accredited assessors under the Biodiversity Offset Scheme.

Essential requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in biodiversity/environmental science or other relevant discipline and relevant experience.
  • Current Australian driver’s licence.
