The Role

We are seeking a Senior Terrestrial Ecologist with developed skills in plant identification and Local, State and Federal Legislation to join our team creating environmentally sustainable outcomes throughout Queensland.

In this role, you will address complex challenges and provide practical solutions in the development, government and infrastructure sectors.  

As well as managing end to end deliverables, with guidance, as required, from the Director, you will be provided with the autonomy to manage teams delivering project outcomes.

Specifically, you will

  • Carry out Vegetation Identification, Community and Habitat Description and Mapping surveys;
  • Conduct Regional Ecosystem Assessments and Biocondition Surveys, mapping and reporting;
  • Conduct detailed Ecological Assessments to assist in the management of residential, commercial, government, education and industrial developments throughout Queensland in accordance with specific Local, State and/or Commonwealth requirements;
  • Liaise with clients, associated consultants, government representatives and authorities;
  • Provide management and compliance advice under relevant Federal, State and Local Government Planning and regulatory mechanisms;
  • Develop and advise on Vegetation and Rehabilitation Management Plans; and
  • Contribute to Bushfire Hazard Assessment and Management Plans.

We are also open to hearing from freelance ecologists or sole traders who yearn to work as part of a team again and want to rely on a stable and attractive income + incentives.

The Essentials

You will have extensive experience in identifying native and non-native vegetation throughout SEQ.  You will need degree qualifications in ecology and consulting experience (or equivalent), with 7 years plus as a guide. You will also need a thorough understanding of Queensland legislation.    Exceptional report writing and stakeholder management skills will be essential in this role.

With a balanced ecological approach, you will strive to achieve sustainable and practical outcomes that support a developing region.
