CEN (Community Environment Network) is a non-profit independent community group that works for Ecologically Sustainable Development and against threats to it. The aims and objectives of CEN are as follows:

  • to increase effectiveness of community groups;
  • to be a regional voice on the Central Coast;
  • provide a forum for public discussion and education;
  • increase public awareness and understanding;
  • to promote community monitoring of the environment; and
  • to facilitate the empowerment of individuals.

The opportunity:

An exciting job opportunity has opened up to expand CEN’s Bush Regeneration Team. CEN is currently looking for experienced Bush Regeneration Team Members. CEN’s team is Ourimbah-based and provides a range of bush regeneration services throughout the Central Coast. Much of the work carried out work is in Council and NPWS reserves.

CEN’s team also provides support to private landholders involved in CEN’s Land for Wildlife Program. This program primarily addresses biodiversity conservation through the promotion of habitat protection to private landholders. Often, landholders work with the team and require a degree of supervision and support.

About you:

Essential Criteria

  • Commitment to the aims and objectives of CEN (see above);
  • At least six months experience working as a Bush Regenerator;
  • Completed a minimum Certificate II Conservation and Land Management or equivalent;
  • Excellent plant identification skills;
  • Sound knowledge of exotic plants and control techniques;
  • Relevant certification including ChemCert certificate and OH&S White Card; and
  • Access to private and/or public transport and a mobile phone.

Desirable Criteria

  • Completed or currently studying Cert III Conservation and Land Management;
  • 1 years’ experience in the bush regeneration industry;
  • Experience in seed collection;
  • Supervision experience;
  • Chainsaw Operation; and
  • Experience working with community volunteers.

Hours and duration: casual employment 30-37.5hrs/ week.
