Abzeco is an ecological consulting and land management business specialising in flora and fauna survey and monitoring, Bushfire Management Plans, Habitat Hectare Assessments, Biodiversity Assessment Reports, Land Management Plans, Offset Management Plans, ecological management, and restoration, weed mapping, salvage and translocation of rare or threatened flora and fauna species, design and implementation of pest control programs and expert environmental and conservation planning advice.

The Abzeco team combines the knowledge and training of our botanists, zoologist, ecologists and GIS technicians with the technical and practical skills of our experienced qualified field crew. 

We deploy a number of field crew from our Sunshine and Eltham depots to complete a broad range of land management and restoration activities including, weed and pest animal mapping and control, revegetation, and ecological burns.

We are currently looking for a Senior Team Leader to provide fieldwork related support to the Field Crew manager on an ongoing basis. A core part of your role will be to ensure client jobs are completed within allocated budgets and timelines. You will assist with the preparation of quotes and tenders along with planning for control burn and weed control work. The successful incumbent will be well versed with compliance and safety practices.

This role is available on a full-time basis and is primarily based in our Sunshine depot with a requirement to visit our Eltham depot twice a fortnight.

 On a daily basis you will:

• Manage ongoing documentation of work procedures to ensure all operational knowledge is systemised.
• Ensure ABZECO workplaces are safe, hygienic and suitable for professional work.
• Complete all required paperwork in accordance with the business policies and procedures.
• Brief the field crew on job requirements and debrief once the job is completed.
• Plan and undertake pest animal control.

Prior experience of up to 3+ years’ experience in a Field Crew role or another relevant role will be preferred.

To be considered for this role you will preferably have:

• Experience and skill to assist in development of Abzeco procedures and policy
• Experience in supervising and managing ground crew providing guidance and training as necessary.
• Ability to show initiative in relation to opportunities for Abzeco
• Demonstrated ability to manage all staff working on a project from beginning to end to meet budget set in quote.
• Specialist role in the company
• Region specific expert in flora and/or fauna skills
• Expert in vegetation management and rehabilitation works including chemicals handling in accordance with the SDS and Abzeco OH&S procedures.
• Experienced in use of tools and equipment common to the industry such as chainsaw, brush cutter, QuickSpray rigs/hoses/pump, knapsacks.
• Ability to use field GIS software, GPS to accurately record locations and field data and can train others to use equipment.
• Ability to engage and liaise with clients.
• Ability to foster a productive and positive team culture.
• Knowledge to ensure all OH&S requirements are adhered to.
