EcOz Environmental Consultants is seeking an experienced Environmental Consultant to join their Water and Soils Team in the Darwin office.

We are Darwin based, 100% Territory owned and operated environmental consulting company with 30+ staff in Darwin and Alice Springs and pride ourselves as being a friendly and flexible work environment that provides opportunities to work on projects throughout the Northern Territory, and across northern and central Australia.

EcOz is currently delivering a number of high-profile projects across a broad range of industries, including large scale renewable and green energy projects, for government and private clients.

The role:

As an Environmental Consultant, ideally with between 2 and 5 years experience in a similar role, you will:

  • Participate in and lead field investigations.
  • Collect and process surface and groundwater, soil, and air samples.
  • Carry out field analysis to determine environmental conditions.
  • Prepare and adhere to Job Safety Plans and safety procedures.
  • Implement quality control and assurance protocols.
  • Complete paperwork and analyse data for reporting.
  • Inspect and maintain instrumentation. 

Essential experience:

  • A degree in environmental science, environmental management or related discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience in planning and implementing site water and/or soil quality investigations and monitoring programs with a high level of technical rigor, and reporting to industry and government.  
  • Practical knowledge of legislation and technical guidelines applicable to water and soil assessments in Australia.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake field based site assessments in urban and remote areas.
  • Strong written and communication skills, including with co-workers, clients and regulators.
  • Organised, motivated and self-directed.
  • An NT drivers’ licence, or ability to obtain.

Desirable:

Any of the below attributes would be an advantage:

  • Strong technical aptitude and project management experience.
  • Contaminated lands experience, including the development and implementation of Sampling and Analysis Plans and Remediation Plans
  • Acid Sulfate Soils assessment and management experience.
  • Experience in preparing Erosion and Sediment Control Plans.
