EcOz Environmental Consultants is seeking an experienced mid to senior level Consultant to join our Impact Assessment and Approvals team.
We are Darwin based, 100% Territory owned and operated environmental consulting company with 30+ staff in Darwin and Alice Springs and pride ourselves as being a friendly and flexible work environment that provides opportunities to work on projects throughout the Northern Territory, and across northern and central Australia.
EcOz is currently delivering a number of high-profile projects across a broad range of industries, including large scale renewable and green energy projects, for government and private clients.
The role:
As a mid to senior Environmental Consultant, ideally with between 3 to 5 years experience in a similar role, your responsibilities will include:
- Advising and supporting clients on environmental and social aspects relevant to their project planning and delivery.
- Managing and/or contributing to scoping and delivering environmental impact assessments in support of applications for project approvals, permits and licences under NT and Commonwealth legislation.
- Preparing environmental management plans and providing support to our clients to meet their compliance monitoring and reporting obligations.
- Managing project delivery, including ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, on budget and to a high standard in accordance with EcOz’s certified management systems.
- Assisting with preparing proposals and tender submissions.
- Engaging with a wide range government and community stakeholders.
- Contributing to mentoring and growing the capabilities of junior staff.
- Maintaining and growing client relationships; building your profile at industry seminars and events and actively promoting EcOz capabilities.
- Promoting a culture of teamwork where all members of our team are engaged, and their contribution is valued.
Essential experience:
- A degree in environmental science, environmental management or related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience.
- Liaison and collaboration with regulators and other stakeholders in the project development and planning stages.
- Project management, including budget tracking, scheduling and maintaining client relationships.
- Strong written and communication skills, including with co-workers, clients and regulators.
- Organised, motivated and self-directed.
- An NT drivers’ licence, or ability to obtain.
Desirable:
- Environmental impact assessment experience in line with the fundamental principles of EIA
- Development of impact and risk assessment criteria or matrices to assist in the rating of impacts and risks
- Significant impact assessments in line with the EPBC Act Significant Impact guidelines
- Desktop environmental value assessments or constraints analysis of greenfield sites
- Preparation of environmental approval documentation for new developments, including mining
- Experience within the Northern Territory is regarded but not necessary
- Strong technical aptitude and project management experience.
