The Senior Project Officer — Climate Resilience will work towards increasing the uptake of proven drought and climate adaptation strategies among the Burdekin agricultural community, ensuring their specific future needs are addressed through research, consultation and collaboration. 

The successful candidate will support delivery of current drought resilience projects and develop methods to increase adoption of climate adaptation strategies. They will liaise with internal and external subject matter experts to ensure natural resource management projects are supported by the best available science.  

Requirements

  • Experience and/or technical skills/knowledge/qualifications in sustainable land management practices.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in project management, including stakeholder engagement, project planning and reporting, and risk management, to meet milestones within budget and time frames. 
  • Demonstrated high-level written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear and concise reports, and to liaise and communicate on complex matters with a range of stakeholders.
  • High-level organisational skills, including the ability to develop and manage processes, and organise and prioritise work activities to meet targets in a demanding, busy environment. 
  • Relevant work experience or equivalent tertiary qualifications in Agricultural Science, Natural Resource Management or Environmental Science.
