About the role Reporting to the Project Manager, this role supports the delivery of conservation projects across the South East area of Victoria. The role requires familiarity with conservation and land management principles, as well as Victoria's Ecological Vegetation Classes, flora, and fauna to provide advice and undertake project activities.

It also requires project management experience including managing key deliverables on time and to budget.

With guidance from the Project Manager, you will proactively engage with partners and landholders regarding project delivery, and deliver on ground works including ecological surveys, monitoring, land management plans, landholder engagement, mapping, and work with contractors to undertake on-ground activities like weed control.

This role offers a full-time base salary of $76,419 to $84,607 pa., plus superannuation.

This is a 12-month fixed term full time position (open to part time). The role is based in the South East Area of Victoria, the office location is Bairnsdale. Travel throughout West Gippsland and East Gippsland catchments is required.

About you

We are searching for someone who is passionate about conservation, this role would be ideal for someone who is looking to grow their career in the Environmental sector.

The successful candidate will come with.

  • At least 2 year of experience working in the environmental sector.
  • Degree in environmental science, natural resource management, or similar/ relevant experience.
  • Understanding of conservation principles and practices, including legislation, and knowledge of Victorian Ecological Vegetation Classes, flora and fauna.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including understanding of managing budgets, and report writing.
  • Experience working autonomously and as part of a team to deliver high quality projects and conservation outcomes.
  • Experience in spatial mapping and GIS required.
