About the Role

The Supervisor role is responsible for coordinating a small team of Conservation Trainees while delivering urban bush regeneration projects throughout the Townsville Region. This project is funded through the Queensland Government Skilling Queenslanders for Work program allowing trainees undertake bush regeneration, revegetation, landscaping, nursery and light construction activities while working towards a Certificate I in Conservation and Ecosystem Management.

Contract Type: Full-Time, Fixed Term Contract until 29 August 2025 with potential to extend.

Some of the key duties of this role include:

  • Supervise, motivate, guide, support and direct the activities, work practices and techniques of a trainee team undertaking environmental restoration, light construction and maintenance activities, ensuring quality standards are maintained.
  • In conjunction with the Regional Manager, identify, schedule and prioritize work activities, ensuring that adequate resources and equipment are available for the efficient and effective delivery of services.
  • Support the delivery of training in accordance with the VET Quality Framework and to the requirements of Certificate I in Conservation and Ecosystem Management.
  • Assist trainees to develop employability skills and pathways to employment and encouraging a strong work ethic.
  • Assist with project administration, including attendance records, budget control, scheduling, vehicle management, WHS records, project planning and reporting.
  • Liaise and develop linkages with project partners, including land managers, community groups, the public and others and promote Envite’s activities and services.

Essential Criteria.

  • Certificate III in Conservation & Land Management or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years bush regeneration experience.
  • Drivers Licence.
  • Experience leading teams whilst undertaking ecological restoration.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and mentor individuals from all walks of life.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
  • White Card.
  • Physically fit, motivated and capable of working in challenging outdoor environments.
  • Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment
  • Understanding and ability to follow WHS policies and procedures.
  • ACDC Licence.
  • Formal or informal experience in training or mentoring.
  • An ability to use email, basic data entry and completion of forms on attendance, behaviour and incidents on site.
  • A can-do attitude with the ability to troubleshoot and problem solve; and
  • Senior First Aid & CPR.

Desirable Criteria

  • Chainsaw Certificate Level 1 & 2
