Are you passionate about fostering community partnerships and working towards environmental conservation? Jagun Alliance Aboriginal Corporation (JAAC) is seeking an enthusiastic Project Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will oversee the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of key projects, including the Heal the Rivers Project. This is a targeted Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander position. Preference will be given to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. In the event there are no suitable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates, further applications will be considered. This is a fixed-term, part-time position (4 days per week) for 2 years, with a salary range of $85,000-$105,000 per annum (1.0 FTE) (pro rata, 0.8 FTE).

Reporting to the Caring for Country Lead, you will collaborate with Senior Leadership, cultural advisors, and JAAC staff to ensure the successful delivery of projects. Your responsibilities will encompass maintaining project management systems, coordinating events, liaising with stakeholders, and reporting on project outcomes. You may also have the opportunity to supervise project staff.

  • Employment Type: Fixed-term, part-time position (4 days per week).
  • Term: Fixed - 2 years
  • Salary/Rate: $85,000-$105,000 per annum (1.0 FTE) (pro rata, 0.8FTE) depending on prior experience and time in role + 12% superannuation.
  • Location: Sites across the Bundjalung nation, with HQ in Lismore area.
  • Report: Caring for Country Lead

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project support, working with Senior Leadership Team and JAAC staff to plan, implement, and report on project activities.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with JAAC staff, cultural advisors, partner organisations, and other project participants, including Aboriginal Elders, community members, and relevant community groups, government, and non-government organisations.
  • Collaborate with JAAC staff to develop communication products (videos, photos, and text) to update communities and funders on project progress and outcomes.
  • Implement policies and procedures to ensure the safe and successful delivery of project activities.
  • Implement and maintain project plans utilising JAAC nominated Project Management software.
  • Supervise project officers in planning and implementing assigned projects and assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for Jagun Alliance to ensure the safe and successful delivery of project activities.
  • Coordinate and oversee event/workshop preparations, including site setup, resource management, health and safety protocols, security arrangements, and first aid provisions. 
  • Undertake other duties as requested by your supervisor.

Skills

Essential:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and the ability to work with Aboriginal and culturally diverse people.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience in community engagement and successfully working with local communities.
  • Proven ability in project management, including keeping project records and reporting on project activities and outcomes.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, a proactive attitude, and motivation to build relationships.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Current driver's licence.
  • Ability to coordinate in events and field-based activities, requiring a reasonable level of fitness and willingness to stay overnight in remote locations occasionally.

Desirable:

  • A tertiary or vocational training qualification in education, health, social sciences, environment, or a related discipline.
  • The ability to drive 4WD vehicles.
