Due to our company’s continued and sustained growth we have an opportunity for an enthusiastic Graduate Ecologist to join our dynamic and highly respected team of environmental professionals in our Mudgee office.

About the Role

The role of Graduate Ecologist is to provide ecological and environmental support and services to the Mudgee office and clients in the mining, renewable energy, local government, and conservation sectors. It’s a fieldwork heavy role - you’ll be working with our team of experienced ecologists on a diverse range of flora and fauna assessments, learning from some of the best in the industry.  The role will involve field surveys, report writing, proposal preparation, a working use of GIS and vegetation clearing supervision (spotter/catcher services).

In this role you will:

  • Provide important contributions to projects in the fields of ecological assessment, environmental impact assessment, vegetation management, environmental monitoring, planning and conservation assessment.
  • Provide an essential service to our clients helping to shape positive biodiversity outcomes across a range of large and small-scale development projects, including mining, renewables, infrastructure, and local development.
  • Hone your skills in ecological field survey, learning from on-the-job training and mentoring with our leading team of ecologists and respected environmental professionals.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary projects and gain experience and knowledge across a range of environmental sciences.

You will meet the following Essential Criteria:

  • You are passionate about the environment! Please provide a 300-word summary on why you are committed to leading with science to improve environmental outcomes in Australia.
  • A degree in Environmental Science or related discipline.
  • Experience in field ecology, through employment, volunteering and your studies.
  • Willingness to work on a range of development projects, including coal mines, wind and solar farms, and providing spotter/catcher services for development projects (training and supervision provided).
  • Sound communication and writing skills – you may be asked to provide a sample of your report writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Can-do attitude and self-starter initiative with good time management skills.
  • An awareness of relevant New South Wales and Commonwealth legislation.
  • A baseline level of physical fitness and agility that will enable your participation in field work in a variety of climates and terrains.
  • Current NSW driver’s licence and demonstrated safe driving record. A manual licence is an advantage.
  • A sound working knowledge and practical experience using MS Office.
  • Australian residency or citizenship.

  • Honours
  • GIS (ArcGIS) skills or demonstrated spatial data analysis and application in ecology
  • Senior First Aid
  • White Card
