The Corangamite Catchment Management Authority (CMA) is a Victorian Government statutory authority whose role it is to work with and support local communities to improve sustainable land, biodiversity and water resources management, in an area stretching from its head office in Colac to Geelong, Ballarat and Peterborough.

About the opportunity

We have a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for experience in Natural Resource Management at the ground level. Due to staff leave we have a 10–12-week opportunity to support land and waterway management of the Barwon River through Geelong. The roles coordinates maintenance and enhancement of the riverbanks and adjacent reserves and delivers on community and river user needs. In this role you will liaise with river user groups seeking to pursue recreational activities and hosting events such as rowing regattas, running marathons, and canoe championships.

The role is full time however we can accommodate some flexibility to fit in with other commitments. You will need to be able to work in Geelong to have line of sight along the Barwon River and spend time in Colac as required with the team. The role may suit a university student approaching graduation looking to expand their practical experience in the sector or someone looking to combine their NRM and event management skills and experience. It could also suit someone between roles, or an experienced Project Officer interested in joining a Catchment Management Authority.

Remuneration for the role is $69,124 - $80231 per annum depending on experience plus superannuation.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Some experience in natural resource management, environmental management, event management and a relevant diploma or degree qualification.
  • Project delivery knowledge and skills and implementation capabilities.
  • High level interpersonal, engagement and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Good written and oral communication skills including the ability to prepare correspondence and reports with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to a positive, inclusive organisation culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to model the CCMA’s Approach and the Victorian Public Sector values and behaviours.
