About the Role

Are you passionate about biodiversity conservation and ready for a hands-on role in environmental management? NLC is seeking two dedicated Project Officers to join our dynamic team, working on the critical Gamba Eradication and Biodiversity Conservation Project.

As a Project Officer, you will play a key role in the implementation and support of on-ground activities aimed at eradicating gamba grass and conserving biodiversity. This position involves extensive travel to remote locations across the NLC’s region, engaging directly with project partners to ensure the effective delivery of project objectives. You will work alongside Indigenous Rangers and contribute to reducing the risks posed by gamba grass to high-priority biodiversity areas.

What you will Bring

As a Project Officer, you will bring proven expertise in planning and executing field trips in remote regions, along with strong project management skills. Your experience in integrated weed management, including herbicide application and NT flora knowledge, will be invaluable. You possess excellent cross-cultural communication abilities, fostering productive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. In addition to this we are looking for:

  • Completion of Tertiary qualifications in Natural Resource Management, Conservation and Ecosystem Management /or relevant, significant experience.
  • Minimum of 2 (two) years’ relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in the field application of GIS (geographic information systems) and GPS (global positioning systems) for weed mapping, planning and survey navigation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of NT cultural, agricultural and conservation land management issues is a plus.
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence and the ability and willingness to undertake remote travel in a manual 4WD vehicle or light aircraft.

  • A base salary of $81,716 per annum plus 14.5% superannuation and salary sacrificing up to $15,900 + Meal Entertainment and Holiday Accommodation benefits up to $2,650 per year.
  • Other benefits under our Enterprise Agreement include:
    • District allowance of up to $4,631 per annum for individuals with dependents and $2,539 without dependents.
    • 5 weeks annual leave, leaving loading, 15 days personal leave;
    • Paid Christmas close down;
    • Upon completion of 12 months of service an Annual airfare with a net (in hand) value of $2,724;
