The Principal Advisor Climate Science provides technical direction, oversight and review of products and deliverables relating to climate science and technical information on climate change impacts, adaptation and mitigation. The role leads and administers a small team focused on climate and climate adaptation science, knowledge brokering and communication.

The Principal Advisor Climate Science provides guidance, coordination and advice for climate change-related technical assessments and project development whilst ensuring appropriate collaboration and communication is achieved within government and with other stakeholders. The role leads the SA Government's engagement with state, interstate and national climate science programs.
