Centre for Invasive Species Solutions

Location:

  • Drive a ‘profit for purpose’ ethos with commercial services
  • Canberra based, package to be negotiated

The Centre for Invasive Species Solutions (the Centre) is a not-for-profit, member-based organisation formed to address the impact of invasive plants and animals across Australia. It works with Australia’s leading researchers and innovators to address the ‘death by a thousand cuts’ that pest animals and introduced weeds cause to Australia’s environment, threatened species and primary production

The Board is seeking a leader to build on nearly two decades of breakthrough innovations and effective collaboration, following the recently announced retirement of their CEO.

Your mission as the CEO is to future proof the valuable work of the Centre, elevating the unique role it plays in translating research into practical solutions – such as the creation of innovative tools FeralScan and WeedScan - and coordinating these efforts across the nation in a cost-effective and sustainable way. This includes diversifying funding and developing commercially viable services nationally, broadening the Centre’s focus across the ecosystem, and deepening its concentration on biosecurity threats and their impacts.

We are seeking a purpose driven leader with the entrepreneurial flair and vision to develop strategic partnerships and build a business with commercially viable services in new markets. Your broad knowledge of biosecurity may have been gained in a range of sectors such as environmental or natural resource management, agriculture, government, consulting / professional services, and research commercialisation.

This is a rare opportunity to combine your passion for protecting Australia’s rich natural heritage with your vision and strategic ability to build a business. The role is based in Canberra at the Centre and a remuneration package will be negotiated.
