About the Role

Are you driven to protect biodiversity and combat invasive species? The Northern Land Council (NLC) is seeking a dynamic Project Operations Coordinator to spearhead the Gamba Eradication and Biodiversity Conservation Project. In this role, you will oversee and manage field operations, working directly with remote project partners to ensure successful project implementation.

Funded by the Australian Government, this project aims to mitigate the impact of gamba grass on key conservation areas within the Northern Territory. You will align your work with national and territorial conservation and weed management strategies, contributing to significant environmental preservation efforts. This position will require extensive travel across the NLC region and engaging with Indigenous Rangers and local communities.

What you will Bring

As a Project Operations Coordinator, you will bring a deep understanding of tropical weed management, coupled with hands-on experience in executing and monitoring large-scale weed management programs. Your expertise in the application of GIS and GPS technologies will be crucial for accurate weed mapping, planning, and survey navigation. In addition to this we are looking for:

  • Completion of tertiary qualifications in Natural Resource Management, Conservation and Ecosystem Management, or similar field. Or significant experience in a role related to invasive species management.
  • Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience regarding practical implementation and coordination of natural resource management projects.
  • Demonstrated application of desktop GIS products such as ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro or similar, and collection, management and analysis of spatial datasets relation to natural resource management monitoring and evaluation.
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence and the ability and willingness to undertake remote travel in a manual 4WD vehicle or light aircraft.

  • A base salary of $98,720 per annum plus 14.5% superannuation and salary sacrificing up to $15,900 + Meal Entertainment and Holiday Accommodation benefits up to $2,650 per year.
  • Other benefits under our Enterprise Agreement include:
    • District allowance of up to $4,631 per annum for individuals with dependents and $2,539 without dependents.
    • 5 weeks annual leave, leaving loading, 15 days personal leave;
    • Paid Christmas close down;
    • Upon completion of 12 months of service an Annual airfare with a net (in hand) value of $2,724;
