Under general (SC2) or limited (SC3) direction, this position:
- Undertakes research that addresses knowledge gaps to inform the effective conservation of key fauna species in the Goldfields Region, with a focus on jointly managed reserves.
- Responsible for the collection, management and analysis of complex data, preparation of manuscripts for publication, and reporting on progress.
- Closely liaises with Goldfields regional staff and joint management partners to identify research priorities.
- Provides expert advice on research outcomes to internal and external stakeholders.
Selection Criteria
- Relevant (SC Level 2) or considerable (SC Level 3) experience in planning and implementing field-based fauna conservation research in remote areas.
- Sound (SC Level 2) or comprehensive (SC Level 3) knowledge of experimental design and complex statistical analysis applied to understanding population status of faunal species.
- Well-developed (SC Level 2) or strong (SC Level 3) verbal and written communication skills, including preparation of reports and publishing in peer reviewed scientific journals.
- Well-developed (SC Level 2) or strong (SC Level 3) ability to work in a team to resolve complex problems in collaboration with stakeholders and research institutions.
- Demonstrated (SC Level 2) or high level (SC Level 3) ability to effectively translate research outputs and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to achieve conservation outcomes.
