These newly created positions are a key support role which will see you interacting with various internal and external stakeholders on a daily basis in relation to our Renewable Energy Program.

About the role

The key purpose of the role of the Renewable Energy Liaison Officer is to be the interface between FCNSW and windfarm proponents for a particular precinct or location. As a Liaison Officer, you will be the main point of contact between the FCNSW regional forestry team, the Renewable Energy team, and windfarm proponents and their contractors on day-to-day issues regarding these projects.

The Liaison Officer also contributes to the formulation of management strategies and plans, systems and processes, and key initiatives, for the Renewable Energy Program.

We would love you to have:

  • Proven organisational skills - ability to plan and prioritise work, meet standards and deadlines.
  • Relevant qualifications together with familiarity with forestry management and protection, which may include harvesting and roading, weed and pest control, fire management, planning and suppression, and silviculture.
  • Proven successful experience in natural resource management and experience in undertaking activities related to forestry or environmental compliance.
  • Well-developed communication, written, negotiation and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to work cross functionally without direct line management authority to reach desired outcomes.
  • Ability to build and maintain constructive relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders together with high levels of diplomacy and the ability to effectively manage potentially contentious and confidential matters.
  • Personal qualities of resilience, empathy, and an ability to promote a positive, compliance culture.

Depending on the role the preferred candidate will be required to satisfactorily complete a Drug and Alcohol screening, and/or Medical Assessment and/or a Fire Task Based Assessment (TBA).

For roles requiring, the successful candidate(s) must be fit to perform firefighting activities, which may include working in smoky conditions and the ability to be physically active in uneven or steep terrain. Offers of employment for these roles are subject to the results of the pre-employment Medical Assessment which may preclude candidates high risk conditions from being able to meet the inherent requirements of the role.
