We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Environmental Offsets Officer to join the Health, Climate and Conservation Branch within the Council.

You’ll be collaboratively managing the City’s environmental (vegetation) offsets program including the development and implementation of procedures, strategies and policies, supporting the delivery of on-ground projects ensuring delivery within agreed timeframes, budget and quality. You’ll also be providing strategic advice and management support to the Environmental Projects Coordinator, while mentoring and supporting the teams Environmental Projects Officers.

  • You possess excellent negotiating skills and are not afraid to have challenging conversations with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • You’re a strategic thinker who can identify and implement innovative leverage opportunities and help shape policy within the organisation and across the region.
  • You’ll be collaborating and engaging with Local, State and Federal government authorities and other stakeholders to manage regionally significant environmental offset projects in line with broader organisational objectives.
  • You have a knack for building positive relationships with a strategic network of practitioners, researchers, and decision-makers across SEQ.

Key indicators for success:

  • A degree in environmental engineering, management, science, planning, or similar, or equivalent experience highly regarded.
  • You’ve demonstrated experience in environmental offset policy, legislation and project planning and/or conservation/land management projects within an environmental function of similar size and scope.
  • You’ve excellent strategic planning, policy, end-to-end program and project management skills, with the ability to develop and deliver concise procedures, business cases, project and change plans, for tangible outcomes and multiple benefits.
  • This position has been identified as having a ‘Significant Risk’ of exposure to a disease preventable by vaccination. Therefore, it is a compulsory requirement of the position that the incumbent have the following vaccinations in accordance with the terms of The Australian Immunisation Handbook and Council's Worker Vaccination Management Directive.  Vaccines for this position currently include Hepatitis A and Tetanus.
  • Open for rostered for after-hours duties, if required.
