About Bellarine Catchment Network

The Bellarine Catchment Network (BCN) is a network of over 39 community groups, land managers and government organisations collaboratively delivering environmental projects across the Bellarine and Geelong region. BCN is governed by an incorporated committee and employs a team of permanent contracted and casual staff.

The Bellarine Peninsula is 34,000 ha in area with 137 km of bay, estuary and ocean frontage. Only about 5% of it retains its original vegetation cover. BCN's Vision is for 'healthy, flourishing and diverse ecosystems cared for by an aware and engaged community.' About the role

This role will report directly to the Coastal and Biodiversity Program Leader and will assist the organisations education and engagement program across Geelong and the Bellarine.

Key duties:

  • Assist with the delivery of education programs including incursions, excursions with primary and secondary schools, community events and our summer coastal program.
  • Facilitate environmental education and on-ground activities for schools, community groups, groups from multicultural backgrounds, disability groups and members of the public.
  • Support the delivery of projects that focus on marine and terrestrial biodiversity, waste and sustainability.
  • Facilitate community volunteer days that have a focus on bush regeneration including the Borough Coastcarers and Friends of Murrk Ngubitj Yarram Yaluk.
  • Contribute to website and social media management by creating and posting copy.
  • Represent Bellarine Catchment Network at external events, workshops and meetings.

About you

We are seeking candidates with the following experience:


  1. Tertiary qualification in environmental science, biology, or similar equivalent qualification, or at least 1 year of experience in a similar role.
  2. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  3. Experience facilitating or supporting school or community events.
  4. An understanding of biology, local biodiversity and/or environmental conservation.
  5. Motivated with well-developed organisational and time management.
  6. Experience working in a team environment and contributing to a healthy work culture.
  7. A current Australian Drivers Licence.


  1. A current Working with Childrens Check, Level 2 First Aid and CPR.
