Wetland Revival Trust (WRT) is seeking a Field Project Facilitator to deliver on-ground ecological restoration works in North Central Victoria. This role involves working closely with Traditional Owners to implement on-ground projects, providing leadership and support to a team engaged in various ecological restoration activities.
The Field Project Facilitator will also supervise and train less-experienced team members and complete assigned tasks independently, adhering to WRT policies and procedures for safety, quality, and timeliness. This position will make a significant positive contribution to WRT’s ecological restoration projects.
Why work with us?
Wetland Revival Trust (WRT) is a not-for-profit environmental charity working to restore wetlands in the southern Murray Darling Basin across North Central Victoria. We prioritise involving Traditional Owners in on-country restoration activities and consult Elders before we undertake work.
Wetland Revival Trust is a leading expert in wetland plant identification, restoration activities and the protection of endangered wetland species. By working with us in the field, you will work alongside one of Australia’s pre-eminent wetland ecologist Damien Cook.
Our flagship site is Wirra Lo Wetlands in Murrabit, purchased in 2023. With a permanent conservation covenant, this site, along with its unique biodiversity, will remain protected in perpetuity. It is also home to the nationally vulnerable Growling Grass Frog. The successful candidate will be working at this site on a protection program for this species as part of a Federal Government Saving Native Species grant.
We are committed to providing professional development opportunities for staff, and provide staff with first aid training, annual CPR training, 4WD training and chainsaw operation. If there is a training opportunity an employee would like to pursue, we are open to supporting professional growth.
Although we are a small team at Wetland Revival Trust, we are flexible, committed to our cause and operate with integrity and kindness.
About you
The idea of working in the field, getting your hands dirty and rolling out a swag under the stars appeals to you because at your core, you are more comfortable in the bush than behind a desk. You are passionate about working with others on important environmental projects, and have the skills to lead, motivate, direct and supervise a team of less experienced crew members.
You might have some experience working on revegetation or Bush Crew projects and understand what it takes to get the most out of a team while executing the work safely. You understand field safety protocols and the importance of ensuring all team members work within the guidelines of the organization.
We are open to negotiating time allocation around your work-life balance needs to ensure this role is sustainable.
