Position Summary

We are seeking a passionate Ecologist/Botanist to join our team. The successful candidate will deliver diverse projects, including ecological conservation, site assessments, monitoring, and biodiversity impact assessments for various clients.

Location: Based around Bathurst and/or Wagga Wagga with a hybrid work model, including remote work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Field Work: Conduct ecological monitoring, vegetation mapping, threatened species surveys, and habitat assessments in line with the Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM).
  • Project Management: Oversee project deliverables, timelines, and budgets from start to finish.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide advice on ecological matters and lead field assessments.
  • Mentorship: Support the development of junior staff.
  • Client Liaison: Consult with clients, regulatory authorities, and stakeholders.
  • Reporting: Prepare and review detailed reports and deliverables.
  • Project Planning: Drive and initiate projects of personal interest.


  • NSW Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) accreditation, or working towards it.
  • Tertiary qualification in ecology, botany, environmental science, or related field.
  • Minimum three years' experience as a consulting ecologist or equivalent.
  • Field assessment experience in botanical surveys, flora/fauna identification, PCT mapping, and targeted threatened species surveys.
  • Proficiency in ecological data analysis and interpretation.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel, including overnight stays.
