NRM North is one of three endorsed regional natural resource management groups in Tasmania, and one of 54 in Australia. NRM North was officially incorporated under the Tasmanian Natural Resource Management Act on 26 March 2003. NRM North has statutory functions under the Act with respect to integrated natural resource management.

Circular North is one of three Regional Waste Management Groups in Tasmania. Formed in 2007 it is hosted by NRM North in partnership with eight local councils: Break O'Day, Dorset, Flinders Island, George Town, Launceston, Meander Valley, Northern Midlands, and West Tamar. The role of Circular North is to provide advice, funding, and education to improve waste management and recycling to northern Tasmanian communities, businesses and governments.

Leading a small team, the Circular North Program Manager will manage the delivery of the Circular North Program (Northern Tasmania) including management of the program's governance systems, strategies, partnerships, finances, communications, and relationships with stakeholders.

The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Environmental Management or similar and/or equivalent work experience relevant to the role.
  • A high-level understanding of waste streams in northern Tasmania and demonstrated knowledge and experience in applying the waste hierarchy to resource recovery and circular economy models.
  • High level people and relationship management skills, and the ability to lead, support and manage teams to deliver outcomes.
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to build robust partnerships and relationships to effectively liaise, consult, negotiate, and network with industry groups, community stakeholders and all tiers of government.
  • Ability to travel throughout the region, state or interstate as required.
