We have an exciting new position available as our Junior Ranger Program Coordinator based in Derby.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establishing a culturally appropriate Indigenous Junior Ranger program in partnership with Derby District High School that respects and incorporates Nyikina Mangala resource management and culture.
  • Once established, organise and oversee the implementation of the Junior Rangers initiative.
  • Provide support to school-aged children from Derby to participate in the Junior Rangers.
  • Support families’ awareness and involvement in the Junior Rangers, to promote school attendance, enhance literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Oversee the employment and management of casual staff, including Traditional Owners and workers.
  • Collaborate with the Walalakoo Manager to effectively manage the project budget.
  • Maintaining records and statistics for reporting purposes, to support program evaluation and the expansion of the program to other schools and communities.
  • Working in collaboration with the Nyikina Mangala Rangers.

About you

You will have strong engagement and collaboration skills, with a track record in partnerships with schools, vocational education and training (VET) providers, ranger groups, Traditional Owners, and local Elders.

You will be committed to adherence to laws and regulations, and the safety and welfare of children in alignment with National Principles of Child Safe Organisations.
