About the role:

Several full-time fixed term positions and ongoing casual roles as Fire Operational Field Crew are available to support our activities. The position will deliver solutions to a variety of industries and clients across Queensland.

Fire Operations Field Crew may undertake a range of tasks such as:

  • Planned burning operations.
  • Planned burning preparation activities.
  • Site assessments.
  • Fencing, land management, vegetation management activities.
  • Planning and project works.
  • Supervision of contractors.

Location and Working Arrangements:

  • You will preferably be based within the Greater Brisbane Region.
  • Extensive work-related travel and working away from home is a requirement of the role.

About you:

To succeed in this role, you will need to be:

  • Developing or experienced in bushfire management.
  • Capacity to work in a physically demanding role.
  • Be physically fit suitable to the demands of the role.
  • Capability to work in a small dynamic team and with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Communication skills to foster and maintain relationships with other staff, clients, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Capability to be flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances.
  • Willing to travel and work remotely away from home.

You will need the following Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Well-developed or developing knowledge of the role of fire in natural systems and the use of fire for achieving ecological outcomes and mitigating risks.
  • Strong interest in land, fire and ecological management.
  • Fire Crew Member, Fire Crew Leader accreditation or equivalent.
  • Using small plant and equipment.
  • Operating light 4WD vehicles offroad and in remote locations.
  • Current first aid accreditation.
  • A Manual driver's licence is essential.
