The opportunity:

NGH is seeking a BAM accredited senior level Ecologist to join the team. The successful candidate will play a key role in carrying out biodiversity projects, including in large renewable energy and linear infrastructure projects.

Our consultants work across a broad range of market sectors, including renewables, infrastructure, utilities, government, waste management, and resource extraction (quarries, mining) and are seen as true advisors of the business and our clients in relation to biodiversity projects.

You will work with a team of industry leaders and be mentored to develop and grow your career and experience. Any day may see you:

  • Facilitate excellent project delivery across the Biodiversity team in your area of speciality.
  • Deliver environmental surveys and impact assessments of terrestrial ecosystems, specifically flora and/or fauna, biodiversity and habitat.
  • Manage your own projects as well as contribute to the projects of other staff as required.
  • Prepare biodiversity assessments, management plans and offset strategies.
  • Preparation of a variety of flora and fauna assessment and management reports.
  • Conduct site inspections.
  • Identify/ provide practical solutions to mitigate environmental impacts.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

Candidates will need a degree in an ecological discipline and a track record in ecological surveying and assessment, preferably gained from within an environmental consultancy. With excellent organisational capabilities, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Ecology or related field.
  • Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) accreditation.
  • Demonstrated experience in flora and/or fauna identification.
  • Knowledge of state and Commonwealth environmental legislation and policy.
  • Demonstrated experience with GIS.
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written.
