About the Opportunity:

Our established WA Environmental Approvals Team is based in Perth’s CBD (St Georges Terrace) and consists of ten talented experts. We are seeking a motivated Approvals Senior to Principal Consultant to work with this excellent group.  We have a pipeline of work with a steady flow of existing and new clients that can continue to be built upon, as well as the opportunity to bring in and shape future work. 

You will be supported by a friendly, experienced team within a wider office of over twenty ecologists, spatial analysts, and bushfire scientists. You’ll work with a range of established clients across our central business areas of resources, energy, land development, and infrastructure. We work with great clients who value our expertise and work with us to progress complex and interesting projects throughout WA, Australia and internationally through the broader Tetra Tech company.

The type of work we currently undertake includes the following:

  • Part IV EP Act referrals, EIA assessments and associated management plans.
  • Part V EP Act works approvals and licencing, native vegetation clearing permit applications.
  • EPBC Act referrals and assessments.
  • Environmental offset strategies, calculations and management.
  • Mining Proposals and Mine Closure Planning.
  • Environmental due diligence, auditing, compliance, and strategic advice.

About you:

We think you will love this role if you’re the type of person who:

  • Is a strong communicator - both written and verbal.
  • Is team focused and enjoy mentoring and supporting others.
  • Is passionate about EIA and environmental approvals, with significant experience in this area.
  • Has excellent project management skills and a keen eye for detail; and
  • Can nurture and grow mutually beneficial client relationships.

To be successful you will also have:

  • A relevant scientific or engineering degree in areas such as Environmental Science; Management; Engineering; Law; and/or Environmental Planning.
  • More than 6 years industry experience (preferably in WA).
  • Experience in EIA and approvals processes under Commonwealth and State legislation.
  • Previous experience in the consulting sector managing your own projects (desirable); and
  • Experience in preparing a range of high-quality reports including impact assessments, monitoring and management plans (desirable).
