Role Purpose

As Senior Project Manager, your primary role is to lead the development of new carbon projects in Australia, ensuring they contribute to demonstrable carbon sequestration, agricultural, and conservation goals for future generations. You'll oversee project design, delivery, and operations and client liaison. You are accountable for managing budgets, development and operation timelines, and managing stakeholder relationships within the natural resource management sector, with a focus on safety and sustainability. Your expertise in the ACCU Scheme and experience in coordinating Natural Resource Management/Forestry activities will be essential for achieving project success and client satisfaction.

Success in this role will see you…

  • Collaboratively designing and executing practical, high-integrity, and compliant carbon projects.
  • Maintain effective relationships with clients, suppliers, sub-contractors, and other internal teams and external agencies / governing bodies to ensure the management and delivery of project outcomes and client needs are met throughout the project life cycle.
  • Meeting project milestones within allocated budgets and timelines while implementing rigorous quality control measures for high-quality outcomes.
  • Successfully navigating regulatory requirements and compliance standards, particularly within the ACCU Scheme.
  • Demonstrating adeptness in coordinating various natural resource management and forestry activities, while building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Ensuring robust safety management practices are integrated into all project activities, providing leadership to project teams and fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Balancing competing pressures on project scope, performance, cost, program, and risk, while meeting key stakeholder expectations and ensuring evidence-based decisions for sound outcomes for present and future communities.
  • Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts and obtain permits and licences as needed.

Experience/Knowledge:

  • Tertiary Qualifications aligned to the role or industry, including Project Management Qualifications.
  • Highly developed project management skills and 10+ years experience in developing, delivering, and evaluating projects for the industry, having led field teams working in remote locations.
  • Strong background as an Natural Resource Management/Forestry specialist, demonstrating leadership in team management, performance, and safety, with a track record of owning project results and driving team success.
  • Exceptional stakeholder and client management skills, with the ability to engage effectively and build strong professional relationships to drive collaborative outcomes.
  • Proven experience with the Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCU) Scheme, possessing a solid understanding of its intricacies and requirements.
  • Experience with or exposure to mine site rehabilitation (nice to have, not essential).

Other Role Requirements:

  • Ability to travel as required - regular interstate travel is likely to be required, including to remote locations.
  • You will need to be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • A current driver's license is required and experience with 4WD and remote area work is desirable.
