About the Roles

As a Field Supervisor in our Environment and Conservation (E&C) department you will be responsible for a small team of Bush Regenerators out in the field, ensuring the effective achievement of a variety of work projects including:

  • Bushland and farm regeneration, watering and maintenance  .
  • Riparian restoration, revegetation, regeneration, and vegetation maintenance .
  • Weed maintenance.

As a Bush Regenerator in our E&C department you will be part of a hardworking team specialising in environmental improvement and the encouragement of ecological succession, working on the above range of projects and more.

Through our diverse spread of clients and partnerships throughout the region, the E&C projects have a healthy mix of revegetation plantings as well as assisted regeneration through various methods of weed control.

Our current projects include work in locations ranging from the beautiful dunes along Rainbow Beach, back to the dry rainforests encompassing our western ranges, to the Mary River and its many tributaries which hydrate our catchment.

At GDLG we are a collaborative team who continually work together to find the best approaches to bush regeneration and to enhance and improve our techniques to achieve the best possible results in each of the diverse ecosystems we work. Our teams are always exploring options to reduce herbicide application while still accomplishing the best possible results for our partners and clients.

We are a tight-knit, friendly and passionate team who value all opinions regarding natural area management and encourage all team members to have input on day-to-day decisions. At GDLG we also encourage and support staff for further studies and skill improvement as well as career progression.

Required for the role of Field Supervisor:

  • Diploma of Conservation and Land Management or equivalent.
  • Minimum three years' experience in natural areas management, with a sound knowledge of integrated weed management, bush regeneration, revegetation, and native plants of Southeast Queensland.
  • Minimum of one year's experience in leading and supervising teams engaged in natural area works, with experience in quality control, WH&S procedures, environmental standards, report writing and effectively communicating with landholders and key stakeholders. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Required for the Role of Bush Regenerator:

  • Certificate III Conservation and Land Management or equivalent.
  • ACDC licence .
  • White Card.
  • Manual Drivers Licence .
  • Maintain and operate chainsaws competency .
  • Current First Aid & CPR Licence .
  • An attitude of stewardship for our environment,.
  • Passion to continually learn and improve your understanding of the complex systems underpinning our diverse catchment.
  • Physically fit, with a good work ethic.

These positions will initially be on a casual basis. Hours will be dependent on availability of projects, and we currently have a lot projects lined up for this year.

These positions have the following casual pay rates:

  • Field Supervisor - $37.01 per hour.
  • Bush Regenerator - $33.84 per hour.
