About the role

The Team Leader Parks contributes to the success of the City by leading crews in the horticultural maintenance of a range of high-profile parks, reserves, and streetscapes within the City of Hobart whilst continually monitoring, reviewing, and improving horticultural practices and work programs.

Role accountabilities include:

  • Providing leadership and direction within the parks and reserves operations unit.
  • Work programs related to the Parks and Reserves central teams.
  • Development of the annual programs for the Parks and reserves unit.
  • Providing a high level customer service and advice to ratepayers, community representatives.
  • Implementing the Council's WHS Management System ensuring Safety is forefront of all we do.

About you

Are you passionate about creating and maintaining beautiful green spaces for the community? Do you have experience in leading and supervising a team of skilled gardeners and horticulturists? If so, you might be the perfect candidate for the role of Team Leader Parks with below qualifications and experiences.

  • Certificate III in Horticulture or a related field coupled with demonstrated knowledge and experience in the procedures, practices, and processes used in the maintenance parks, reserves, and streetscapes.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills is required as well as the ability to plan day to day operations in advance and develop achievable and cost-effective work programs.
  • You will also have proven experience in the supervision and leadership of horticultural teams.
