About the role

As a Farm Hand, you will play a vital role in supporting the projects on our property. You will be reporting to the Farm Manager, and primary responsibilities will involve contributing to the day-to-day activities of the Farm Manager, Sanctuary Rangers, and LRX. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage in conservation, reforestation monitoring, and habitat regeneration initiatives.

About you:

  • A strong passion for sustainable land management practices and an understanding of the importance of preserving and improving habitats for native flora and fauna species.
  • Previous experience working on farms or similar rural properties, demonstrating hands-on knowledge of farm activities, infrastructure maintenance, and animal care.
  • Adaptability to work in a dynamic and independent team environment.
  • Proficiency in using computer programs such as Google Suite.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualifications in the environmental sciences, land management or agriculture experience.
  • Training in four-wheel drive or chainsaw use.
  • Victorian Agricultural Chemical User Permit (ACUP).

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Property Manager with any farm related works that need to be completed on the property.
  • Support the Sanctuary Rangers in monitoring the predator-proof fence line.
  • Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of the property's infrastructures, including cottages, tiny homes, and vehicles.
  • Assist in monitoring planting plots and reporting observations.
  • Collaborate and execute on bushfire prevention strategies including fire break development around infrastructure, invasive weed management and fuel reduction activities.
  • Contribute to the improvement of habitat for native flora and fauna species.
  • Assist with the health and well-being of domestic animals on the property.
