We are seeking applications from fauna spotter catchers for roles across Queensland, for an immediate start.

Fauna spotter catchers work to mitigate the impact of native vegetation clearing on native animals, including rescuing and relocating any injured or displaced animals that may be impacted during construction works. You will join a professional team with well-developed systems and processes in place for remote work.

The opportunity would suit early-career environmental professionals looking to get a foot in the door of an established and growing environmental consultancy with exciting prospects. You will gain valuable exposure to the construction and mining industries, safe working requirements, and gain valuable experience working across diverse landscapes and habitats. Successful candidates will have the following skills and experience:

  • Flora and fauna surveys.
  • Fauna handling, trapping, and identification.
  • Be prepared to travel within and outside of standard working hours and on weekends for extended periods of time.
  • Work with limited supervision.
  • Conduct overnight camping or accommodation in remote areas.
  • Collect and ensure data is recorded and reported in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with company and client occupational health and safety, environment, and quality systems, policies and procedures.


Applicants should meet the following requirements, or be willing to undertake the necessary training:


  • Tertiary qualification in ecology, environmental science, natural resource management, biological science, environmental planning, or another related field.
  • General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
  • QLD Manual Drivers Licence.

Desirable - while not essential, experience, qualifications, and passion for any of the following specialties will be highly regarded:

  • Venomous snake handling course.
  • Lyssavirus vaccination.
  • 4WD certificate.
  • First aid certificate.
  • Rail industry induction card.
  • Standard 11 Generic Coal Induction.
  • Coal Board Medical.
  • Experience or formal training as a fauna spotter catcher.
  • Experience working on construction sites and mining leases.
