Ecology Consulting are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Ecologist to join our team in Southern NSW. We specialise in assessment and management of Southern NSW ecosystems while educating our clients and community about solutions to achieve better environmental outcomes.

About the role:

We are seeking a Senior Ecologist with BAM Accreditation who has previous experience in a consulting role with strong reporting and fieldwork skills. We offer a flexible working environment including work from home/office and a friendly team environment. We can offer a suitable workload to suit your lifestyle and requirements.

We are based in the Upper Lachlan Shire and will consider candidates throughout Southern NSW.

Remuneration will be based on experience and qualifications, alternatively if you wish to use your own ABN we can discuss a sub-contractor arrangement.

Selection Criteria:

  • Relevant qualifications in ecology/environmental science/applied science or equivalent.
  • Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) accreditation with demonstrated experience conducting related assessments and reporting.
  • Five or more years' experience in environmental management and/or ecology with consultative experience.
  • Comprehensive experience in conducting ecological surveys within Southern NSW, species identification and relevant fieldwork skills.
  • Thorough understanding of local, NSW and commonwealth environmental legislation.
  • Strong scientific reporting skills and demonstrated experience in writing and reviewing reports for:
    • Planning and Environmental Assessments and Approvals.
    • Biodiversity impact assessments (BDARs and FFAs) and Biodiversity Stewardship Site Assessments (BSSARs).
    • Environmental Management Plans.
  • Interest in mentoring junior ecologists.
  • Willingness to travel (at times overnight) to conduct fieldwork.
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with stakeholders including landholders, local government and corporate clients.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, GIS software and ecological databases.
  • Ability to work within a team or independently.
