Karuah & Great Lakes Landcare is seeking contractors to roll out the MidCoast Growers Network's new Australian Government funded Bushfire Resilient Gardens project. Each contractor position is a small weekly commitment (indicative hours 35 hours and 30 hours per month for the two roles) but has a great capacity to help out in the community.

Commencing in June 2022 and finishing in Dec 2023, this project will assist Mid Coast property owners affected by the Black Summer 2019-20 Bushfires to redesign and rebuild their gardens

Project Coordinator - Bushfire Resilient Gardens

Engaged for approx. 35 hours per month, the project coordinator will be responsible for preparing the project plan and reports, selecting participating property owners, overseeing appointment of contract landscapers and the delivery of video case studies and workshops. Experience in the horticulture field as well as excellent project management, report writing and communication skills, is required.

  • The total contract value is $40K.

Communications Officer - Bushfire Resilient Gardens

Working approx 30 hours per month, the communication officer will prepare a literature review, develop and disseminate Fire Wise garden factsheets and resources, liaise with participating property owners and assist the Project Coordinator with other communication tasks. Highly developed research, writing and communication skills are required. Experience in the horticulture field and in preparing content for websites and social media is also required.
