The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is developing the Gardens of Stone State Conservation Area as the new destination for adventure tourism in New South Wales. The establishment of new multi-day walking experiences, mountain biking networks, camping and day use facilities and a commercial adventure activities hub with zip-lines and via-ferrata, will all be part of the new reserve, and a key focus of this exciting new career opportunity.

  • Temporary full-time positions up to 36 months with possible extension (2 positions).
  • Lithgow location (location negotiable).
  • Package includes salary ($113,343 - $124,901), employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.

About the Role

This multi-million dollar project requires experienced project managers with a background in tourism and visitor experience planning and/or infrastructure construction. These project planning, implementation and contract management roles will be integral in the successful delivery of the highly anticipated visitor experiences and tourism infrastructure in this new reserve.

You will be working as part of a small project team focussed on delivering the planning and subsequent procurement and development of the new visitor facilities, mountain biking and multi-day walking tourism opportunities.

About You

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in achieving project deadlines and milestones to the required standards and within budget, whilst managing consultations and negotiations with diverse stakeholders within agreed timelines.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships and contribute to the project development and delivery in line with established plans, budgets, timeframes and priorities.
  • Broad experience in engaging and working with professional services including landscape and building architects, engineering disciplines, varied construction contractors and commercial tourism operators.

Essential Role Requirements

  • Project management skills and experience with an understanding of contemporary best practice in procurement, tendering and contract preparation, in managing project teams, consultants and contractors, and in applying environmental safety and risk management policies and systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and reviewing strategic plans, policies and programs, and in providing strategic and operational advice and recommendations to senior management.
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent, relevant professional experience.
