  • Hours: 7am - 3:30pm, 5 days per week

Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Construction Crew team member to be based around Geelong. As a Crew Member of the Construction team, you are an integral part of our long-term success. With your own hands, you help build and plant our wetland construction sites. You love to work outdoors and get your hands dirty.

You will report directly to the Lead Project Manager and will take directions from our on-site Site Supervisors & Project Managers relating to daily scheduled works.

You will work in a small/medium team but need to be self-motivated to ensure schedules are met - you need to demonstrate your ability to work autonomously. Additionally, to be successful in this role, effective communication and the capacity to work well with others will be crucial.

We are seeking reliable individuals looking to contribute to the construction of native bushland, wetlands and newly built native landscapes zones throughout Greater Melbourne.

This position favours those who seek a challenging position in the environmental field. You might not have all the skills required yet, this is where your willingness to learn and adapt is crucially important.

The health and safety of our crew is of the utmost importance, so understanding and following instructions and our internal procedures and policies are a basic requirement, at every time of day and every day of the year. You will contribute to create a positive atmosphere for all our employees while maintaining a solid pace and a task-oriented focus on site.

Your Responsibilities

Our internal Balance Enviro policies and procedures are the foundation of our doing, these might be accompanied by our contractors’, clients’ or site-specific procedures. The below outlined duties and responsibilities are the basic expectations when you are working as a Site Supervisor, but are not limited to.

  • Assist other crew members, site supervisors and manager to perform work tasks in a safe manner and to a professional standard
  • Behave to the standards set by your crew members and leaders
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively in a team environment, communicate clearly and ask questions when clarification is required
  • Follow work task instructions from the Site Supervisors and Project Managers, and Management. This might include but is not limited to: work task safety, work tasks procedures, machinery use and maintenance, pre-starts
  • Follow our SWMS, policies & procedures and our COVID-19 Action Plans. This might include but is not limited to: Covid-safe actions, Uniform and PPE compliance, incident reporting
  • Take part and actively participate in the fortnightly toolbox meetings
  • Regularly submit improvement suggestions

  • Desire to work outdoors all-year round
  • Practical work experience, manual labour
  • Organised, goal-orientated with efficient work attitude
  • Ability to motivate yourself and others
  • White Card required. 
  • Own Transport required. 
  • Industry-related licences and certification required 
  • Willing to learn and adapt
  • Respectful and professional behaviour, appreciating individual differences
