Ecological Service Professionals (ESP) is a niche aquatic ecology and environmental science practice based in Wynnum, Brisbane. We are seeking an Experienced Ecologist or Senior Ecologist to support the high quality delivery of projects to our diverse client base. Key responsibilities of the role will include project management, field team leadership, data analysis and reporting, and contribution to staff and practice management as required.

About us:

ESP was founded in 2014. Since that time, we have grown to be a supplier of choice for several large clients across a range of industry sectors. We work in marine, estuarine and freshwater environments throughout Queensland, with some interstate and international projects. Our diverse portfolio of current projects includes long-term monitoring programs, specialist approvals support for small and large projects, and partnerships with community projects and habitat restoration programs.

About you:

You will have:

  • A University degree in ecology, environmental science or equivalent. Post-graduate and / or vocational qualifications (e.g. AUSRIVAS accreditation or Certified Environmental Practitioner) are not essential but would be highly regarded.
  • A strong scientific background demonstrated by at least 5 years of experience in aquatic ecology (marine, estuarine and/or freshwater), with at least 2 years in a consulting environment.
  • An ability to work in the field, including for up to two weeks at a time and in remote areas if required. Relevant field qualifications such as 4WD experience / training, boat licence, first aid and advanced diving qualifications would be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis, including past experience analysing complex data sets using a variety of statistical techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to provide examples of written work.
  • The ability to plan and organise workloads and the ability to be innovative and flexible when dealing with challenges.
