About Wild

As a result of our recent expansion and continued growth, we are looking for one or more ecologists to join our experienced ecology team to be located in either our Brisbane office or Townsville headquarters.  

Wild Environmental provides a range of professional environmental services to the aquaculture, mining, infrastructure, Government and transport sectors. Wild Environmental offers a comprehensive suite of solutions across environmental approvals and compliance, ecological investigations, and land resource management, with a team of specialists covering disciplines including ecology, water, soil, air, and marine sciences.

The Role

This role would suit an ecology professional with a demonstrated record of conducting ecological investigations. Successful candidates will understand how their work applies within the Queensland environmental legislation, policies, and guidelines of the day. 

The role requires that your scientific and environmental impact assessment report writing is well developed, demonstrating by your experience in preparing reports and written advice. It is likely that you have previous consulting, or regulatory experience.

You are experienced in one or more of the following ecological disciplines:

  • flora and fauna surveys;
  • targeted threatened species surveys;
  • fauna handling, trapping, and identification;
  • surveying and mapping of vegetation, regional ecosystems, threatened ecological communities and habitat condition assessments using the BioCondition framework or similar;
  • protected plant surveys. 

You are motivated and work hard to achieve client-focused outcomes. You genuinely enjoy the interactions you have with your team and clients and look forward to getting involved with complex and challenging projects.

As a consultant, you will be comfortable in seeking out opportunities to establish, develop, and actively maintain positive client relationships, attend networking events, and prepare expressions of interests, tenders and fee estimates.


Applicants should meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in ecology, environmental science, natural resource management, or another related field;
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience.

Desirable – while not essential, training or qualifications in any of the following specialties will be highly regarded:

  • Construction industry worker card;
  • Rail industry worker card;
  • 4WD training;
  • Venomous snake-handling certificate;
  • Standard 11 Coal Board Medical;
  • Lyssavirus Vaccination;
  • BioCondition and Regional Ecosystem Identification Training;
  • Plant Identification Training.
