We are currently seeking an experienced Geospatial Analyst to join the GreenCollar team. Reporting to the Geospatial Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with the Technical Division and Research & Development team to ensure successful execution of both preliminary and final project design across a range of vegetation projects.

More About the Role

  • Identification of potential project areas under a range of different project eligibility requirements across Australia
  • Finalise the spatial design of environmental projects at different scales and across a variety of landscapes in compliance with legislative requirements
  • Designing and preparing maps required for on ground surveys and project assessments using map related data
  • Generating maps and mapping data sets for reporting, monitoring and research for use both internally and externally
  • Drafting and/or reviewing the geospatial components of project reports
  • Ensuring GIS data sources are kept up to date
  • Assist with modelling geospatial data inputs using assessment tools
  • Uploading data to a centralized MySQL database
  • Developing a series of new extrapolated state datasets based on multiple data sources for use in opportunity identification

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years work experience in a similar Geospatial role, preferably in carbon and other ecosystem service project mapping environment
  • Ability to produce mapping information for carbon accounting tools
  • Well-developed remote sensing skills, with a focus on identification and mapping of vegetation types
  • Experience in uploading and extracting data from a MySQL database
  • Experience in developing an extrapolated dataset from multiple data sources
  • Tertiary degree in Geography, Spatial Sciences or Environmental Science which included GIS and Remote Sensing subjects
  • Demonstrated experience in ArcGIS version 10 or higher
  • Demonstrated experience in ENVI version 5 or higher
  • Demonstrated high level planning, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge
  • Demonstrated communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and adaptively in a team environment
  • A willingness to undertake a variety of tasks and display initiative
  • Proven ability to work independently undertaking routine tasks requiring close attention to detail
  • Experience working effectively with multiple data sources to manage information
  • Advanced writing skills with the ability to deliver concise messages for non-industry audiences
  • Exceptional listening and speaking skills
  • Ability to work well both independently and in a team 
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python and R (preferable)
