About the Lalang-garram marine parks:
The wild and remote Kimberley coastline is one of the last remaining relatively unspoilt coastlines on earth. This coastline is also recognised as one of the world’s most ecologically diverse marine areas. The three Lalang-garram marine parks are a living cultural landscape and lie within the traditional country of the Dambimangari Native Title Holders.
The Lalang-garram marine parks provide protection to approximately 1.3 million hectares of remarkable Kimberley marine environment from the internationally recognised Garaangaddim (Horizontal Falls) to Iledda (the Walcott Inlet), Yowjab (Montgomery Reef), and the spectacular wilderness values of Malandoom (Prince Regent River).
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an enthusiastic team of professionals, working with DBCA, in a formal joint management partnership with the Dambimangari Aboriginal Corporation (DAC), as Senior Ranger (Marine) for the Lalang-garram marine parks.
The position will be based out of Broome with regular on park expeditions taking place primarily on-board DBCA’s liveaboard patrol vessel Worndoom, but also using other vessels within DBCA’s fleet and chartered aircraft throughout the year. The role involves working across the marine park in capacities ranging from research and monitoring projects, visitor engagement, education, patrol and enforcement and working with staff and Traditional Owners from DBCA and DAC.
The following benefits apply to this position:
The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current Working With Children Check and a current and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.
