OzFish Unlimited is an exciting new NGO dedicated to helping the millions of Aussie recreational fishers take action to improve the health of their waterways. OzFish Unlimited partners with fishers and the broader community to invest time and resources into the protection and restoration of our waterways, counteracting decades of degradation.

OzFish Unlimited is a flexible workplace with family friendly work policies, remote work platforms, plus a strong team culture across the national OzFish team. This position is based solely in the Sunraysia region, with daily local (COVID-19 compliant) travel.

Information about the position:

OzFish Unlimited are seeking an individual who is energetic, hands on and enthusiastic about making a difference to aquatic environments. As an integral part of OzFish Unlimited, this position will be responsible for driving the River Repair Bus, coordinating its work program and supervising/training participants and volunteers on the Bus, under the supervision of and working closely with, the Project Manager-Murray Darling Basin.

The River Repair Bus provides a unique model of community engagement in river and wetland restoration and will be equipped with the required equipment to plant and maintain native vegetation, build habitat for aquatic and terrestrial species, undertake rubbish clean ups and upskill participants on these areas. The River Repair Bus will also be made available to provide educational demonstrations and displays at appropriate events.

The Team leader – Sunraysia River Repair Bus, supported by the Project Manager-Murray Darling Basin and national operations team will successfully run the day to day operations of the Sunraysia River Repair Bus. The Team leader – Sunraysia River Repair Bus responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating the work program for the River Repair Bus with the Project Manager – MDB and other stakeholders as directed
  • Ensuring volunteer work tasks at each site are skill appropriate to participants
  • Ensuring the River Repair Bus is maintained and fully equipped for its weekly work program
  • Driving the River Repair Bus to the designated work sites and managing volunteers in appropriate tasks
  • Guide volunteer participants to build their hands-on skills and experience in natural resource management and bush regeneration
  • Managing site tasks including (but not limited to); native tree planting and maintaining plantings, rubbish removal and building of habitat for aquatic and terrestrial species
  • Assist with the development of project opportunities with the relevant councils, regional and state agencies
  • Provide desktop and administrative support to fish habitat restoration projects, which includes but not limited to, permits and budgeting
  • Provide educational demonstrations and displays at appropriate events (may include school activities)
  • Follow all administrative tasks and guidelines established by OzFish Unlimited daily
  • Ensuring all participants follow all health and safety policies and procedures established by OzFish Unlimited daily
