About the opportunity

As the Principal Ecologist, you will lead a team of dedicated and talented Ecologists within our high performing Port Macquarie office, to continue the upward trajectory of our on-going success.

Your previous consulting experience will assist you while managing various projects covering all areas from environmental assessments, conservation, research projects, pest management and environmental monitoring across a wide range of ecosystems.

You will take pride in being the ‘go-to’ person for not only producing, but reviewing final reports to ensure legible compilation, presentation, evaluation and analysis of ecological data.

This role will offer you variety, support from an experienced management team, on-going learning opportunities and the ability to mentor the NSW Ecology team.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Tertiary qualification in Ecology, Zoology, Environmental Science or equivalent
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience within a similar role
• New South Wales ecology experience is essential
• Accreditation in and experience on the application of the Biodiversity Assessment Method, including preparation of Biodiversity Development Assessment Reports
• Demonstrated independence when completing field surveys along with flora and fauna identification and thorough understanding of the NSW and federal legislative framework
• Strong written and verbal communication including demonstrated high standard of report writing abilities
• Good business acumen and ability to maintain and create positive client relationships
• Sound working knowledge of GIS software and ability to navigate various systems
• Project management skills leading various sized projects in a consultancy environment
• Current drivers licence
