The Conservation Ecology Centre is a scientific organisation generating knowledge to nurture Country. We combine rigorous research with practical land management and work with our community to restore habitats, build knowledge and develop and deliver solutions to the most urgent conservation challenges in the Otway region. We partner with public and private land managers, NGOs, traditional owners, research institutions, government and community to bring about real change in flora and fauna conservation.

The organisation was founded in 2000 alongside the Great Otway National Park. DGR status was granted in 2006 as Conservation Ecology Centre projects and programs developed across the region. Alongside conservation research programs, the organisation has also developed an integrated social enterprise model, operating the Great Ocean Ecolodge since 2004 and developing the new Wildlife Wonders project which is scheduled to open early 2021. These social enterprises contribute to financial sustainability and provide outstanding community engagement.
