The Position

We are seeking an experienced and efficient person to lead the review of the Mackay Whitsunday Natural Resource Management Plan and achieve NRM outcomes across multi-disciplinary teams.

The Coordinator will lead a small dedicated team, in the role you will be required to foster an inclusive team culture, ensuring all officers are clear on what is expected of them.

The position will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Responsibility and leadership of the monitoring, evaluation and reporting activities to achieve NRM outcomes across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Participate in State-wide activities to improve consistency of monitoring information.
  • Lead the review of the Mackay Whitsunday Natural Resource Management Plan.
  • Develop and implement action items to align integration of NRM planning outcomes to existing and future funded programs to maintain the currency of natural resource management planning and prioritisation of management actions.
  • High level representation of Reef Catchments and / or Chief Executive Officer within key sub-program/s operations, meetings and events.
  • Reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer - Reef Catchments.

Selection Criteria

  • SC1 – Tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as Applied Science or Natural Resource Management with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the Natural Resource Management Sector.
  • SC2 – Very good understanding of monitoring systems, particularly in relation to NRM activities, including practices required to deliver improved water quality and natural resource outcomes.
  • SC3 – Demonstrated skills in the development and implementation of Natural Resource Management planning and projects including proposal writing, budgeting, reporting, project and contractor management.
  • SC5 – Demonstrated project management skills including the ability to coordinate multiple projects and budgets.
  • SC6 – Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate with and influence a diverse client base and stakeholders including NRM industry groups, government and contractors.

You will be assessed on how you meet the listed Selection Criteria.  To ensure that sufficient information is provided to allow an informed assessment to be made, you are required to: 

  1. Provide a statement outlining your suitability for the position, with specific examples which address all the requirements listed under Selection Criteria. Your response should be no more than 2 pages;

The selection panel will assess your ability to perform the work required of the position based on your response and resume and other selection processes which may include an interview.
