Exmouth is one of the few areas in Australia that can boast the Reef to Range experience. Adjacent the Cape Range National Park, the diving and snorkelling paradise of Ningaloo Marine Park attracts thousands of tourists every year.

We currently have an opportunity for an Operations Officer - Joint Management Ningaloo. Under the general direction of the Parks and Visitor Services Coordinator, you will:

  • Engage with staff across all district programs to facilitate effective delivery and meaningful engagement, coordination and supervision, in existing works programs, of fulltime and casual traditional owner Conservation Employees (Mentored Aboriginal Trainees).
  • Engage with all staff in the development of new works programs to achieve the best possible engagement of traditional owner Conservation Employees (Mentored Aboriginal Trainees) in district operations.
  • Facilitate meetings and provides executive support to the Nyinggulu (Ningaloo) Coast Joint Management Body (JMB). Ensures the JMB’s management aspirations are actioned and facilitates district wide engagement with the traditional owner community.

Selection Criteria 

  1. Experience in natural resource management, including land management and planning; with a preference for someone with experience in marine and coastal management, nature conservation, cultural heritage and recreational facility delivery issues. 
  1. Evidence of well-developed interpersonal and oral communication skills with experience in effective liaison with external organisations; including other government agencies, community, and special interest groups, plus an ability and willingness to work with traditional owners to deliver native title aspirations and goals through joint management, cooperation or collaborative arrangements and have a working knowledge of their culture. 
  1. Experience knowledge and skills in leading and managing teams, working effectively as part of a team and independently; and showing a high level of self-motivation.
  2. Experience in budget preparation, control and expenditure of allocated work projects and experience in infrastructure development and maintenance.
