As a Ranger on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) you will be caring for lands owned by the Quandamooka People, who have voluntarily consented to a significant proportion of their lands being managed as National Park

The primary focus of this role is to provide leadership for the Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) management unit within the Moreton Bay Area of Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) field operations.

Working closely with the Senior Ranger, the Ranger-in-Charge (RIC) will lead a team of rangers based on Minjerribah to ensure delivery of day-to-day management across Naree Budjong Djara National Park, Teerk Roo Ra National Park (Peel Island) and associated vessel support operations. Both parks are jointly managed under an indigenous joint management framework with the Quandamooka Yoolaburrabee Aboriginal Corporation (QYAC) representing the Quandamooka people and a substantial proportion of the ranger workforce is indigenous identified.

This position requires high-level leadership and administration skills to develop and convert annual and strategic work programs to on-ground daily and weekly activities that are delegated to the team. The position requires a strong understanding of natural resource management to deliver fire and pest management programs and activities consistent with protected area park management including community engagement, compliance operations, visitor management, administration, financial management, capital works, safety and vessel, plant and equipment management. The position requires strong record keeping and reporting skills to navigate the QPWS systems that are used for park management and conservation purposes.

This position is based in Dunwich, Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island). QPWS will assist with daily ferry travel to and from the island for a person choosing to live on the mainland. You may be required to travel to other locations from time to time, including overnight stays.
