This is a 24-Month Fixed-Term, Full-Time Position (With the Possibility of Extension or Permanency).

The Pilbara Region extends along the northwest coast from Gnarloo to Cape Keraudren, then inland to the Northern Territory border.

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Range to join our team.

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for the Parks and Visitor Service (PVS) works programming and associated day to day operations with particular focus on the proposed Giralia National Park and provides assistance as required in other lands and waters in the Exmouth District and Pilbara Region. This includes:

  • Coordination of project work and day-to-day park(s) maintenance requirements.
  • Visitor management and coordination of staff, volunteers, and contractors.
  • Visitor risk management requirements and mitigation works.
  • Implementation and management of Capital Works Projects as required.
  • Supports district programs including fire, pest plant and animal control and marine operations as required; and.
  • Liaising with Aboriginal communities regarding joint management interests and activities.

The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current Working With Children Check and a current and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.

To be successful for this position, you need to demonstrate your suitability against the following essential selection criteria: 

  1. Experience in leading, supervising and managing teams, empowering individuals to work with confidence both in teams and independently to deliver agreed outcomes and priorities within a Traditional owner management environment, with particular emphasis on the development, management and supervision of park-specific projects.
  2. Evidence of well-developed oral and interpersonal skills and experience in building and maintaining networks; liaising with the public, commercial tourism operators, community groups, Aboriginal people, and other stakeholders; in patrol and enforcement procedures; plus the ability and willingness to work with traditional owners with a preference for someone who has an awareness of their culture.
  3. Experience and knowledge of implementing operational plans and works programs associated with visitor management and natural resource management, having regard to the threatening processes affecting native flora and fauna, and monitoring and control of pests and weeds.
  4. Experience in the design, development, installation and day-to-day management of recreational sites and park infrastructure on conservation estate.
