The focus of this role is to deliver specific projects including Whitsundays infrastructure maintenance and development, on Islands and in water.

We’re seeking an experienced & enthusiastic Ranger to join our team in the Whitsundays region of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. As part of the Reef Joint Field Management Program and in partnership with Traditional Owner Groups, you’ll ensure that Queensland’s national and marine parks, state forests and reserves are protected, accessible and valued by all.

As a OO4 Ranger in the Whitsundays Management Unit you will work within a team of 18 Rangers. This position will report directly to the Ranger in Charge, Infrastructure. The focus of this role is to deliver specific projects including Whitsundays infrastructure maintenance and development, walking track maintenance and development, compliance and enforcement operations, park user contact and community engagement and other duties as required such as natural resource management.

This role’s focus area is on marine and island protected estate in the Whitsunday/Mackay Coast area of the Southern Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. The Whitsunday Marine Unit has several small vessels and a larger overnight vessel to transit to work sites. Considerable amount of time is spent aboard vessels operating in partially smooth and open waters.
